Asian butadiene was assessed down $60/mt week over week at $1,270/mt CFR China and down $40/mt over the same period at $1,240/mt FOB Korea amid volatile upstream prices, with September ICE Brent crude oil ending the week at $88.22/barrel down 3.89/b day over day. The East China ex-tank price of butadiene was assessed down Yuan 200/mt day over day at Yuan 9,750/mt on July 31, at an import parity basis of $1,246/mt, while the September synthetic rubber futures on the Shanghai Futures Exchange fell Yuan 375/ mt to Yuan 12,595/mt. Despite the fall in domestic prices, FOB China selling ideas remained around $1,300-$1,350/mt, although end-users and some traders said it was unlikely anyone could accept such prices now.
