Asian Benzene: Trade momentum drops on lackluster demand- The demand extends its weakness- Sinopec lowers East
China listed benzene priceOn July 29, sources claimed that the Asian
benzene markets began to show signs of a slower pace in trade momentum. Buyers
and sellers could not reach an amicable trade agreement, indicating that there
were fewer buyers. FOB Korea benzene physical dropped $17-23/mt,
to $1,068-1,100/mt on July 29, ending the three-day upward streak that some
believed to indicate a recovery. Sources said that benzene demand
continued to be low on July 29. Downstream demand for benzene derivatives
products such as phenol, styrene, and caprolactam, among others, did not pick up. According to
official data, Sinopec in China reduced East China's benzene listed price to
Yuan 8,850/mt. This was a decrease of Yuan 300/mt. An earlier
