AA: The European acetic acid market saw a big drop week-on-week due to
weaker fundamentals. On Dec. 9, AA was valued at
Eur1,350/mt-Eur 1,370/mt for delivery in Northwest Europe, a drop of
Eur250/mt-Eur270/mt over the previous week. Prices in South Europe were firm at Eur1,625/mt-
Eur1,645/mt. However, prices in the north and Germany were in the
Eur1,250-1.450/mt range. Sources say that
demand was declining towards the end of the year, but that supply increased due
to the return of capacity both within Europe and overseas. A trader stated that "Suppliers have managed to
accumulate some stocks, so [there's] no panic to buy." Sources said that the price decline was expected to
