Arbitrage
flows were a popular option for Asian benzene traders, which helped to
strengthen prices. The FOB Korea benzene mark soared from $52.84/mt-$60.90/mt. It
landed at $1,204.17/mt- $1,210.20/mt. There was a very close gap between an
offer at $1.200/mt-$1.220/mt and a bid at 1,199/mt-1,205/mt for the
July-loading FOB Korean laycan. A physical
spread offer for H2 June/July at $8/mt further narrowed the backwardation
structure. This jump negated the May 10th
fall, as the market hit a two-month high in May 11. The last time the marker was higher was March 10, when it
stood at $1,207.67/mt- $1,210.80/mt. Participants
from Asia believed that US styrene producers could increase their intake of
