Propylene markets remained stable on July
28, as buyers resisted buying spot propylene due to uncertainty surrounding
downstream products. The
ICE September Brent crude oils futures rose $2.33-3.50/b to $107.89-120.50/b at
0830 GMT Asian closing on July 28. A
Chinese producer stated that propylene imports are unlikely to fall further as
crude oil prices remain high at $100-120/mt. However, the price spread between propylene and polypropylene
was $60-65/mt as of July 28. This is lower than the $150-170/mt breakeven
spread. Prices for propylene in Shandong
rose Yuan 25-40/mt to Yuan 7,225-7,400/mt excank. China's Oriental Energy will shut down its 660,000 mt/year
propylene dehydrogenation facility in Ningbo (Zhejiang) in August. The
