Inquiries from far-out Europe set opportunities  



As strong feedstock prices
pointing towards ammonia weighed down on producers' margins, the Asian
caprolactam markets saw a dramatic increase in prices. Participants
reported rising ammonia prices in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. A few industry sources confirmed that ammonia prices were
around $1,000-1,100/mt. This is a departure from the $300-310/mt range of the
previous year. According to the same
source, ammonia prices were in the low $900-915s/mt range for February. Ammonia, along with benzene is one of the feedstocks used in
caprolactam-making. The production capabilities of the producers will vary
depending on the chemical content of ammonia. Talks in Northeast Asia were heard at $2,250-$2,300/mt based
on buying indications, compared to $2,350-$2,400/mt based on sellers'
