ACETONE/PHENOL - The FD Northwest Europe
acetone spot prices at Eur1,010/mt January 10, up Eur10/mt since Jan. 3, moving
within a distributor’s indicative range at Eur1,000-1.100/mt, and still below a
producer’s indicative range at Eur1,030-1.050/mt. Market players stated that
the fundamentals were balanced. Market
players also suggested that production was stable despite lower operating
rates. The phenol premium to benzene in Europe is now Eur550-555/mt FDN WE, according
to an indication received at this level by a producer. "The phenol market is very weak and most producers are
operating the plants at lower operating rates so there is less Acetone." The source said that overall phenol demand was low with
