Asian phenol stable week over week at $1,020/metric ton CFR China, while the CFR Southeast Asia marker was assessed stable week over week at $1,090/mt July 28. Discussions in the domestic China phenol market remained stable week over week, with east China ex-tank discussions heard at Yuan 8,200-8,250/mt. Meanwhile, ex-tank prices for acetone in the east China market firmed slightly week over week, with discussions heard at Yuan 6,000-6,100/mt, compared with Yuan 5,950-6,100/mt a week ago. A China-based producer explained that the current firmness in domestic Chinese acetone prices relative to phenol is due to tighter acetone supplies in the market.
