Participants were cautious in the
Asia-benzene market Dec. 20. Focus remained on January laycans and
February laycans. 20 saw a $3.66/mt increase to $790.33/mt. The East China domestic market was under
pressure during the day. H2 January ex-tank supplies heard being offered at
Yuan 6,450/mt. . However, there was a floor along the forward paper curve.
H1 2023 contract for benzene derivatives was heard bidding at $775/mt. January
paper was bought at $782/mt, although there were other deals. January
paper was priced at $782795/mt, although some deals were reported to be higher. The tender
will close on December 21, with same-day validity at 0400 GMT. India’s
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. proposed 6,000 mt of benzene for
Jan. 5-9 loadings from New Mangalore. The tender
closed at writing.
