Southeast Asian polyethylene markets weakened in the week ending April 2, due to a sluggish regional demand and uncertain geopolitical developments. HDPE film was down $5/mt from the previous week to $945/mt CFR Southeast Asia. LLDPE also fell $5/mt, with a price of $1,005/mt. LDPE film CFR SE Asia is down $5/mt to $1,155/mt on April 2. Sources said that the continuously weakening Rupiah in relation to the US dollar in Indonesia has led to imports becoming more expensive, in terms of domestic currency. This, in turn, has resulted in lower bids and a weaker appetite for imports. The Indonesian Rupiah dropped to its lowest level since 1998 Asian Financial Crisis on March 26.
