Spot export acrylonitrile levels fell to a
record high of more than two years on Jan. 10. The main reasons for the price
drop were muted buying activity, declining raw material costs and muted buying. Spot acrylonitrile in the
USA at $1,330/mt FOB USG Jan. 10, a $100 decrease from the previous week's
levels. This is based on an indication of $1,320-1,340 FOB USG between Jan.
4-10. Prices dropped to $1,400/mt in
December 2020. ACN was last assessed at $1.325-2.350/mt Dec. 8, 2020 and rose
to $1.395/mt Dec. 15. One source stated
that Acrylo prices fell because of a drop in raw materials costs. However,
buyers remained cautious around holidays. "I
