- Europe's falling MTBE price- RBOB's backwardation is still small



Due to slower demand and stable supply from
overseas locations, sluggishness continued in the US MTBE marketplace on Sept. 2. FOB US Gulf Coast MTBE
witnessed premium tanking in comparison to front-month October RBOB gasoline,
which was 55 cents/gal the previous session. The marker was at 296.45c/gal on an annual basis. The MTBE price in Europe was catching up at a comparable
pace. On Sept. 2, the FOB ARA MTBE Price had fallen to $1,052-1,080/mt or
296c/gal. This demonstrates the tight pit-to–pit race downwards between these
two regions. Both Mexico and Latin America
have ample MTBE supplies from Europe and the USA. But, the demand from these two countries appears to be
