Asian styrene monmer was valued at $20-25/mt,
$1,110-1,150/mt CFR China, and $1,140-1,180/mt FBO Korea Aug. 11. Due to low demand, there
was no Chinese buying interest. As
operating rates are likely to drop to a minimum, Asia's demand will be lower in
September. China's demand was low as no
buyers offered spot cargoes. China's
domestic price was unchanged at Yuan 8,785-9,000/mt exc-tank. This equates to
$1,132.12-1,150.50/mt based on import-parity on Aug. 11. China's operating rates remained low due to weak downstream
ABS and PS buyer demand. Operating rates
in Northeast Asia were similar to China, where they were kept low by weak
demand. Due to low demand, producers in
Northeast Asia kept their operating rates at 70% in September. As downstream demand is expected to remain weak...
