Europe polystyrene saw an increase in supply over the week ending Dec. 21. One
source reported that December saw an improvement in supply compared to November
due to an unconfirmed interruption in supply. The upstream markets are
still being monitored by players, as styrene prices remained stable earlier in
the week. Sources indicated that the availability of raw materials had
been tightened, which could have an impact on the polystyrene industry going
into 2023. According to sources, there was very little reaction from the
market to Trinseo's announcement that it was closing its Bohlen facility, Germany.
This facility includes a 300,000.mt/year Styrene plant and an upstream
330,000mt/year Ethylbenzene Plant. The company...
