Asian benzene prices have been up $11-17/mt since
Aug. 26, at $898.33-910.50/mt FOB Korea marker, Aug. 29. Spot physical discussions
picked up during the Market on Close process. Two deals were concluded at $897-910/mt
October loading FOB Korea. The bid was then repeated at $897-910/mt prior to
market close. In light of the relative
weaker forward prices, H2 September-October's time spread was changed to $1-2/mt
backwardation from $2-3/mt contango Aug. 26. The domestic east China marker was reduced to Yuan 26.67-40.50/mt
on the day at Yuan 7,390-8,000/mt or $933.3-950.50/mt on an import-parity
basis. On Aug. 29, the Sinopec listing
price was kept at Yuan 7,500-6,000/mt. Upstream,
the Naphtha C+F Japan assessment was increased by $5.5-6.5/mt to $675-700/mt on Aug. 29.
