Due to dips in upstream oil, US Gulf Coast
spotbenzene was lower on Aug. 30, Market
conditions were unchanged as benzene prices remained low due to reduced styrene
exports. On the day, benzene offerings
fell. Crude oil futures fell on Aug. 30,
as tensions in Iraq seemed to ease - even if temporarily - and there were more
warning signs about ongoing inflationary fears and global recession concerns. NYMEX October WTI fell $5.37 to $91.64/b. ICE October Brent
lost $5.78 to $99.31/b. This was a complete reverse of the price spikes that
occurred the previous day due to violent clashes between Libya and Iraq. NYMEX September RBOB fell by 18.32 to settle at $2.6944/gal.
