- The price of has fallen 48 cents since
Nov. 16- Sources say that Octane Demand falls

The US Gulf Coast benzene prices plunged for the
third consecutive day on November 21. Sources said that demand for downstream
ethylbenzene was down for gasoline blending. Platt rated November FOB USG benzene as
296c/gal. This is a drop of 20 cents and 48 cents respectively, or 14% since
Nov. 16. Sources have claimed that strong benzene prices
are due to the demand for octanes as well as downstream ethylbenzene, despite
low downstream styrene demand.
