Asian FOB Singapore MTBE fell $16-20/mt to
$1,089-1,100/mt July 12. During Asia on Close process,
there were no bids or offers registered on July 12. According
to market participants, the market was moving in a downward direction that had
slowed down any interest in Asia. According to an Asian trader, the
Chinese market is weak in blending. However, with international MTBE costs
falling faster than domestic China's, Chinese sellers are finding it difficult to sell cargoes to the larger Asian market including Singapore. Another
source said that the East-West arbitrage was closed and no cargoes were heading
to the US market. Sources are still uncertain about the cargoes
offered by China sellers. One trader believed that any offer lower than $1,100-1,140/mt
FOB China would not...
