discounts on the July contract





European benzene prices fell on July 26 as
the month ended. Final July dates were removed from the lay can. Based on the backwardation of July and August,
the five- to 30-day forward delivery can for benzene was $1,130.75-1,150.50/mt
CIF AR. This is $1-2/mt lower than the previous day. The
September dates were pushed up by bids and offer indicating expectations of a
contango structuring appearing between August-September. The softer
feedstock values since the week ended caused a drop in prices in the styrene
markets. The forward loading layman for Styrene fell from
$52.50-57.50/mt down to $1,529-1,560/mt FOB AR. Spot prices
on both markets fell significantly in July. Wide discounts were seen between
contract and spot markets by July...
