At
the end of Jan. 28, benzene market activity was very quiet, but trading was
still being conducted downstream at higher levels in the styrene monomer
market. Styrene
prices rose to $50/mt as a producer purchased several cargoes to load during
February. According to the producer, a
contango structure was likely in the month due to tighter availability after
the US import cargoes were consumed at the beginning of the month. On Jan. 28, the five-to-30 day forward loading layman for Styrene
was valued at $55/mt- $75/mt FOB AR. This
was $16.25/mt less than Jan. 21. The
