According to Kpler shipping data, Northwest
European naphtha exports from Asia in August were at their highest monthly
level since June 2018. This was despite an elevated East-West spread. However,
buying interest in Asia seemed limited. Market participants were still skeptical about
the strength of Asian appetite, despite an increase in European exports east to Suez. This was due to crackers in the region having poor margins. One source
stated that "I don't think demand is strong now in Asia because of the
