Asian methanol prices were
selling under pressure on April 26. The old stock was swelling in China's tanks and
plenty of Middle East origin cargoes were offered to South Korea, Taiwan, and
Taiwan. These Middle East origin cargoes had been replaced by Indian methanol
which is cheaper. Mid-May, cargo from the Middle East was
offered for $410-430/mt CFR Taiwan. A 10,000-mt parcel of un-sanctioned origin
was also offered for $425-475/mt CFR Korea. Delivery was scheduled for June
26th. Although there was some interest in
the offers, no deals were made. A selling
indication was made on the Chinese methanol market for a non-sanctioned cargo
of methanol for delivery in May at $360-390/mt CFR China. Some claimed that the
