down on Sept. 20, amid quieter buyer interest. Although the demand was limited, there were
still talks about buying interests from producers of styrene as the production
margins became smaller due to rising energy costs. According to
a source, some producers wanted to slow down production. Others preferred to
buy products on the market to fulfill obligations, rather than produce. Spot
European benzene prices were slightly lower, with quieter demand. As some
players hoped for better demand, a contango was observed in the market between
September-October. A source stated that this would depend on the
economic outlook.
