said that the Asia acrylonitrile market continued to lose ground after Dec. 20,
as the continuing supply glut put pressure on spot prices. The domestic
price in east China rose to Yuan 9,800 per mt (ex-tank), an increase of Yuan
400/mt over the previous week. Due to the continued weakness of downstream
ABS, which is used as ACN feedstock, buyers were generally bearish on the
market. Producers were positive about the market, however. A producer
from Northeast Asia stated that Formosa, Sailboat and Taekwang have already
reduced their run rates or closed their [units] next month
