AsianACN: gains $60/mt on cost push Sinopec Zhenhai increases ACN plant capacity to full capacity before June 25 / Feedstock propylene prices rise $40/mt WOW

On June 24, the cost-push drove acrylonitrile to a $60/mt increase week over week, reaching $1150/mt at CFR Far East Asia & Southeast Asia. On June 24, feedstock propylene was priced at $800/mt, up $40/mt from the previous week. China's weekly operating rate for acrylonitrile was reported to be stable between 70%-75%. Sinopec Zhenhai announced that it would ramp up the new acrylonitrile facility in Ningbo to its full capacity by 25 June. The plant has been operational since June 14 and is capable of producing 400,000 mt/year acrylonitrile, as well as 180,000 mt/year methionine. It is expected that the plant will reach its full capacity after stabilizing with specifications. One company source confirmed that the unit was operational using propylene as per specification.
