The Indian acetic market firmed up in the week ending March 27, despite tight port inventories. The domestic ex-tank price was higher at Rupees 38/kg in Kandla port and Rupees 39.50/kg in Mumbai port. This is an increase of nearly Rupee 1 kg week over week. Market sources reported that domestic prices are equivalent to $380-385/mt based on import parity. The increase in ex-tank price was mainly due to the limited inventory at ports. "Acetic Acid inventory at Kandla Port and Mumbai Port is below normal. Material is in short supply. A few March cargoes were also delayed, and even the contractual volume for April is below normal," stated a trader.
