Asian vinyl acetate prices were stable in light trading. Asian acetic acids prices increased during the week ending May 22 due to tight supply. East China's domestic AA price was discussed at Yuan 60/mt, or $8.32/mt more than the previous week. The prices ranged from Yuan 2,420 to 2,500/mt per tank. This is because sellers in Asia have received a surge in inquiries about export cargoes. Celanese Singapore restarted their 600,000 mt/year plant on May 17-18, after a maintenance period of a month. However, the company took the plant off-line on May 21, after production was affected by technical problems. Source was unable to give a date for a restart.
