Asian benzene fell $9.67/mt to $901/mt FOB
Korea on September 15 due to thin physical spot negotiations. The November-loading FOB
South Korea offer was $900/mt, against an $897/mt bid before market close. Participants were cautious about the benzene markets due to
increased supply expectations in China's domestic and international markets.
This was despite recovery rates in the downstream styrene monomer, and
polystyrene sector operations. A source
said that the downstream operation rate rose due to lower inventory. However,
there has not been a significant increase in final product demand so sentiments
