AA: East China's domestic acetic acid market prices
soared on May 12th due to news of a US acetyls manufacturer being forced into
bankruptcy. Celanese, a global producer of specialty chemicals and
chemical products, declared force majeure on the shipment of AA, vinyl monomer,
ethyl Acetate, acetic Anhydride, vinyl, and acrylic emulsions. The company
issued a May 10 note. In a May 11 note,
Celanese stated that the force majeure was caused by "unanticipated
interruptions to raw material supply in Texas Gulf Coast." Trades were thwarted May 12 by a wide range of bid-offer
