Asian Propylene: Northeast China prices slide due to ample supply; CFR China inches up / Shandong Chambroad expected to start new olefins unit in Aug / China’s propylene imports over Jan-June rise 11.9%

Propylene prices in China’s northeastern Shandong province fell July 25, as supply in the province remained ample, according to market sources. the price as down Yuan 25/mt from the previous session at Yuan 6,250/mt. Asian propylene was up $2/mt day over day to $770/ mt CFR China, amid tradable indications heard in the $765-$770/ mt range and a trade heard to have concluded at $770/mt CFR East China. China’s Shandong Chambroad (Jingbo) Petrochemicals Co. is expected to start its new KBR catalytic olefins technology unit in Binzhou in Shandong province’s Boxing County Economic Development Zone in early August. The new production unit is expected to boost Shandong Chambroad’s annual propylene production capacity to 600,000 mt/year, matching the downstream polypropylene production capacity that the company already has at the site.
