A restart of the benzene production unit to last one week Styrene liquidity surges as demand peaks



DDP benzene for February
fell 1 cent/gal to 361.5c/gal on February 8 to 361.5c/gal on Feb. 8. This was
due to weak WTI crude futures, which weighed on benzene despite continued
supply-side concerns. WTI crude futures dropped
$1.96/bl to $89.36/bl on February 8. US
benzene prices opened lower than related crude futures but recovered later in
the session to close at $89.36/bl. According
to the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality, after a power outage that
took a refinery and other aromatics offline on February 4, production began
