Under
pressure from active selling and weaker crude oil markets, Asian MTBE dropped
$15.23/mt-$15.30/mt on the day to $963/mt-$980/mt FOB Singapore on Feb. 9. The 92 RON gasoline prices were down 0.43% on the day to
$104.95/b-$104.101/b. Front-month ICE Brent crude oil futures fell 0.96% on
Tuesday to $90.97/b-$90.101/b at 4:30 pm Singapore time (0830 GMT). On paper, the Singapore-to-China MTBE arbitrage window
remained shut. The spread between South
China's MTBE import parity prices and FOB Singapore MTBE prices was around
minus $156.15/mt-$156.20/mt. This was not enough to cover the freight of
$62/mt-$75/mt to ship 5,000 mt of MTBE. According
to a shipping source, India saw 5,000 mt of MTBBE loaded from Hazira between
February 22 and 24....
