Asian paraxylene rose $6/mt to $1,075.33/mt
CFR China Unv1/China Aug. 30 and $1,055.33/mt Korea August 30, in line with
higher crude and naphtha costs. September
ICE Brent crude oil futures rose $3/b to $104.54/b by the Asian close on Aug. 30. Despite firmer crude oil, paraxylene markets reacted in a
muted manner, with buyers withdrawing after morning bids. Sources say that the lack of liquidity was partly due to
uncertainty in PTA margins. This is because there was bearish demand and market
participants were still gauging the impact on new capacities. According to derivative news, there was a total of 57,000 mt
of paraxylene derivatives that were cleared on the Singapore Exchange in the week
ending Aug....
