Asia PE: Prices steady amid weaker buying appetite / SE Asia experiences thin trading after tariff announcement / Taiwan’s USI to shut HDPE unit in H1 Aug

Asian polyethylene markets were little changed in the week to Aug. 6, amid limited discussions. HDPE film as stable week over week at $875/ mt CFR Far East Asia, and LLDPE as unchanged during the period at $855/mt CFR FE Asia. LDPE film was steady over the week at $1,035/mt CFR FE Asia. Demand was lukewarm during the week in China, with futures and domestic spot cargoes trading in a narrow range. The most actively traded LLDPE September 2025 futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange rose Yuan 33/mt day over day to Yuan 7,321/ mt ex-tank on Aug. 6. Operating rates for downstream factories remained low amid the off-peak season — around 50% for HDPE packaging factories and about 20% to 40% for LLDPE/LDPE agricultural film factories, according to market...
