India PVC: Prices unchanged in a slower market / Activity subdued during monsoon / China-origin PVC prices strengthen

The CFR India PVC suspension grade at $715/ mt, unchanged week over week July 23, amid poor demand and limited market activity. A major producer announced its export offers to India earlier July 23 at $730/mt; however, market participants said it was too early to react because of subdued demand in the country and limited immediate buying interest. A market source noted excess inventories as a result of tepid demand during the monsoon. Meanwhile, another source pointed out that Chinese prices were rising due to some old plant closures. "We cannot possibly understand how that is going to play out ... and hence we cannot buy immediately."
