Due to thin spot trading, European methanol
prices were in a downward trend on September 15. Low buying interest led to
the FOB Rotterdam spot price for methanol at Eur352.25/mt on September 15. This
was down Eur0.75/mt compared to the day before. Sources say that at least 2,000 mt were traded on September
15, with volumes evenly divided for November and October deliveries at
Eur353/mt, and Eur360/mt respectively. Eurostat
data from September 15 revealed that the EU imported 481,940mt of methanol last
July, which was 7.18% less than the year and down 11.23% compared to a month
