India Recycled PET: Market sentiments mixed, prices further lower / Thin trading activity / Domestic market did not gain significant support from FSSAI approvals

The Indian recycled PET flakes market continued to show further weakness amid poor market fundamentals, at $900/mt FOB India for premium recycled polyethylene terephthalate clear flakes containing less than 30 ppm of PVC as of Aug. 6, down $20/mt week over week. Similarly, R-PET food grade pellets with a minimum intrinsic viscosity of 0.8 at $1,210/mt FOB India, also down $20/mt week over week in line with poorer flake prices. While a market source shared that there is a growing belief that the weak period is now over and offers should stabilize for exports, the wider market could not corroborate this and shared that demand and queries from the export side were still extremely weak.
