South Asian polyethylene prices were stable in the week ending April 9, as traders took a wait-and watch stance due to a change in trade conditions and a decline in crude oil. The front-month ICE Brent futures dropped $3.49/b compared to the previous close, reaching $60.62/b by the Asian close on April 9. Sources say that fewer offers for India PE grades were received throughout the week, as sellers assessed the impact of the new tariffs announced by China and the US. Crude prices also continued to fall. The India PE market was expected to see a downward trend this week.
