- Asia: Supply tight at persistently low cracker rates- Purchase interest in H2 April
Arrivals thin

Due to a shortage of cargo, discussions
about spot Asian Ethylene were muted on February 14. According to market sources, supply was tight
due to low cracker operating rates and few deep-sea arrivals. Although H2
April arrivals in US-origin Ethylene were being discussed at $930 to $940/mt
CFR Northeast Asia (some selling indications), buyers were less interested due
to the higher risk of arriving more than two months ahead of arrivals. The
benchmark C+F Japan Naphtha marker was up $5.75/mt to $727.875/mt by Asian
close on February 14. The spread for ethylene-naphtha was calculated
at $147.125/mt. This is far below the average spread of $250/mt by integrated
producers and $300-350/mt by non-integrated producers.
