Asia: Low demand■ High Inflation dampens purchasing■ SABIC's Korean Polyethylene JV will increase capacity by
2024Due to low demand and uncertain economic
outlook, Asian low-density polyethylene was less valued in the week ending Aug.
31. According to
industry sources, the demand outlook for the remainder of the year was negative
due to high inflation. October ICE Brent
crude oil futures fell $7.13/b on the Asian close of $97.41/b at 4:00 pm
Singapore time (0830 GMT). The company released
a statement stating that the South Korean joint venture of SABIC plans to
increase the capacity at its polyolefins facility in order to produce advanced
materials for the East Asian country. SABIC
SK Nexlene Co. is the operator of the plant in Ulsan. It is a joint venture
between SK Geo Centric and the Saudi petrochemicals company. SABIC separately...
