Asia: PE: Chinese market shrinks, buyers resist higher offers. / Chinese domestic prices are on the decline / Trading activity in SE Asia and Vietnam is thin

The trading activity on the Asian polyethylene market was low in the week ending March 19. End-users were not active due to sufficient short-term cover. HDPE film was down $5/mt from the previous week to $880/mt FAR East Asia. LLDPE, however, was down $5/mt at $925/mt FAR East Asia during this period. LDPE CFR Far East Asia, at $1.115/mt, was down by $5/mt over the past week. The Chinese market was in a bearish mood over the last week. Prices were in a downwards trend, reflecting the futures markets. The LLDPE futures contract for May 2025, the most actively traded on Dalian Commodity Exchange, fell Yuan 23/mt from day to day and reached Yuan 7,693/mt excluding tanks on March 19.
